Abstract

The pandemic situation of the last few years has also contributed to the increased importance of well-being in organisational practice. This study aims to show that the “GNH of Business” methodology, which applies a holistic approach, can be applied in domestic conditions and can be used to identify the indicators that have the greatest impact on employee satisfaction, wellbeing, and overall organisational happiness. The quantitative research involved 772 Hungarian organisations. Statistical analyses (cluster analysis, logistic regression, and discriminant analysis) were carried out in addition to the “GNH of Business” methodology. The results show that the level of employee happiness in the organisations studied is below average, mainly in the areas of “quality of life” and “psychological wellbeing”. An organisational culture based on trust and a work-life balance that provides long term security, continuous development, and preparation for retirement is a key to sustainable organisational functioning and employee well-being.
