Abstract

Within the framework of this research, a survey on international sports events was conducted in Hungary for the first time in 2017, addressing the residents of the organizing city. This study, through the example of the EYOF, answers the following question: How do the factors that determine the perception of the organising city’s residents (quality of life, sports consumption, satisfaction with the city) relate to the perception of the effects of an international sports event? Based on the results, the overall positive perception of international sports events is positively related to sports consumption activity. People who are satisfied with their subjective assessment of their quality of life generally support the organization and impact of international sports events. Examining the complex regression model showed that the degree of involvement is positively related to the evaluation of the effects of the sports event.
