A sötét triádvonások vállalkozói kontextusban történő vizsgálata nem új a szakirodalomban, számos kutatás találta előnyösnek a vállalkozói siker szempontjából ezeket a vonásokat. A szerzők kutatása, a kapcsolat feltárásán túl, a mögöttes mechanizmusok megértésére irányul. A GUESSS (Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students’ Survey), magyar adatbázisának elemzésével megmutatják, hogy a szubklinikai narcizmus pozitív hatást gyakorol a vállalkozói sikerre. A narcizmus skálán magasabb pontszámot elérő vállalkozók nagyobb valószínűséggel rendelkeznek darwini vállalkozói identitással, azaz elsősorban a siker és a profitszerzés vezérli őket, ami hozzájárul a vállalkozói teljesítmény növekedéséhez.
