Abstract

Innovative financial technologies bring radical changes in financial services. Customer expectations, growing demand for digital channels and new types of players in the financial sector are also pushing traditional retail banks to take action. The current study explores through 13 in-depth interviews that how the different actors in the financial sector interpret the concept of FinTech and its expected impact on the operation and business model of traditional commercial banks. In addition, some regulatory challenges are identified that may hinder the innovative developments of banks and FinTech companies.
