Zoltán Gaál was a widely recognised teacher, researcher and practitioner in the field of management. Authors have attempted to review his life’s work by using the MTMT (Hungarian Science Bibliography) publication database. Descriptive statistics, network analysis methods and qualitative analysis were used to investigate the professional fields covered by the publications. Co-author and discipline linkage networks were also analysed. Results provided evidence of extensive research and publication activity. In terms of methodology, the analyses confirmed that standard bibliometric tools can be used not only to examine publications on a given topic but also to review individual publication activity. Interestingly, this does not require the use of databases considered by international standards, but other data sources can also be used. The analysis has shown that, in addition to keywords, titles can also be used to identify research fields under certain conditions.
