Abstract

Cloud computing was introduced to Hungarian enterprises in the 2010s. The aim of this research is to identify the distinctive features and benefits of the technology and to empirically characterise the extent of its current use and the rate of its future diffusion. The theoretical background of the research is provided by an introduction to cloud computing and a description of the theory of diffusion. The empirical analysis is based on representative data from the KSH on the use of cloud technologies, and the technology is predicted using the Bass model. In light of the results, it can be concluded that in the 15 years since the emergence of cloud technology, its use has increased among SMEs, however, this growth has been significantly slower than that observed among large enterprises, despite the fact that the use of the technology is particularly well suited to the specialities of the SMEs.
