Call for thematic and special issue proposals for Vezetéstudomány / Budapest Management Review, 2026

2025-02-12

Vezetéstudomány / Budapest Management Review publishes up to two thematic issues and two special issues per year. The thematic issues focus on a prominent and current area of research in the field of management science, while the special issues usually showcase the work of a leading think tank, a specific professional community.

If you would like to initiate a thematic or special issue for 2026 (volume LVII), please contact our editorial office by 15 April 2025. (Editorial contact: Krisztofer Szabó, Editorial Secretary: titkarsag.veztud@uni-corvinus.hu, Dr. Márta Aranyossy, Editor-in-Chief: vezetestudomany@uni-corvinus.hu). This first exchange of correspondence will be followed by the completion of a detailed fact sheet regarding the proposed thematic/special issue by 30 April 2025 at the latest.

Thematic issues are tentatively scheduled for June and December, but the final timing will of course depend on further consultation and progress of the review process. A thematic issue may be proposed in relation to areas of focus in business and management that are of significant interest to the research community. The editors of the thematic issue should be previous authors or referees familiar with the publication practice of the Journal and international publication experience is an advantage. It is an added advantage if the guest editors have editorial experience, and it is particularly valuable if they have such experience with a reputable international journal. Guest editors of thematic issues will undertake to maintain the submitted articles in the journal's online review system and guide them through the normal review process.  Guest editors can co-author an article in their own thematic issue. An article in which a guest editor is a co-author will go through the normal peer review process, which is handled by one of the permanent subject editors, i.e. no one can edit their own article. A thematic issue may contain 5-7 articles. If more than this number of articles are published in the same theme, the guest editor should choose a maximum of seven, aiming for the greatest possible diversity of authors, i.e. selecting studies from as many research communities as possible. Articles that do not make it into the thematic issue but successfully pass the peer review process may appear in one of the regular issues. If fewer than five papers are submitted, the compilation may be published as a thematic section. The call for papers for a thematic issue should be advertised in the print issues of Management Science, on the website and in the research network of guest editors to ensure that the news reaches as many potential authors as possible.

Special issues (non-numbered) may appear in any month of the year, in parallel with the regular issues. Guest editors of special issues undertake to finance all publication costs. In all other respects, the same principles apply to special issues as to thematic issues.

Submissions for thematic issues and special issues received by 30 April will be discussed by the Editorial Committee, which will decide on up to two thematic issues and up to two special issues by 30 June. It will publish its decision on its website and inform the guest editors of the issues.
