Abstract

The adoption of digital signature technology has increased in recent years, and multiple factors can influence the implementation of such solutions among Hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises. This study aims to systematically examine these determinants, anchoring the research within existing literature. The study surveyed 200 Hungarian SMEs using telephone interviews and an asymmetric sampling strategy. Data visualization and various statistical and econometrics methods were utilized for data analysis. Findings indicate that larger companies are more likely to adopt digital signatures. Industry characteristics significantly influence adoption, whereas factors related to business operations, such as proximity to business partners, do not exhibit a statistically significant effect. Company size and industry orientation emerge as primary drivers of digital signature adoption. These findings contribute to both practical decision-making and the theoretical discourse on technology diffusion within SMEs.
