A hozzászólás a Daly által hangoztatott, a jelenlegi pénzrendszer és a fenntarthatóság ellentmondásainak feloldására irányuló megoldások rövid kritikai áttekintésére vállalkozik. Az alapprobléma tömör ismertetésén túl kitekintést nyújt az ökológiai monetáris elmélet körül kialakult vitákra, főként a pénzteremtés exogén és endogén természete körüli ellentmondásokra. Bemutatja, hogy miért lehet előremutató az állami pénz, és mit jelenthet a modern monetáris elmélet az ökológiai közgazdaságtan számára. Foglalkozik a kriptovaluták, a mögöttük álló blokklánc technológia, valamint a helyi pénzek ökológiai átmenetekben betöltött szerepével.
This commentary aims to provide a brief critical review of the solutions put forward by Daly to resolve the contradictions between the current monetary system and sustainability. In addition to a short description of the basic problem, it provides an overview of the debates surrounding ecological monetary theory, especially the contradictions associated with the exogenous and endogenous nature of money creation. It shows why sovereign money can be forward-looking, and what modern monetary theory implies for ecological economics. It also addresses the potential role of cryptocurrencies, the blockchain technology operating behind them, and local currencies in ecological transitions.
