The impact of public transportation on the tourist experience

The aim of this research is to reveal how the use of public transport influenced the experience of foreign tourists visiting Budapest. In addition to the usual modes of transport (e.g. bus, tram), the research pays special attention to more special means of transport (e.g. cogwheel railway, funicular, chairlift), and also examines recently introduced developments. It assesses how satisfied the tourists were with the service, whether they had any negative experiences and how their perception of the city was influenced by these experiences. When analyzing the theoretical background, it examines the role of public transport and the tourist experience. It also provides a brief international overview of special means of transport abroad. The results make it possible to formulate proposals and priorities for the future development of public transport from a touristic perspective.
