E tanulmány a fenntarthatósági jelentések és a jelentés tanúsítások szerepét elemzi a vállalatok környezeti, társadalmi és vállalatirányítási (ESG) teljesítményének a fókuszában. A Nem Pénzügyi Jelentéstételi Irányelv (NFRD) jelentős előrelépést hozott a vállalatok nem pénzügyi információinak átláthatóságában, előírva a környezeti, társadalmi és vállalatirányítási politikák, kockázatok és eredmények közzétételét. A Vállalati Fenntarthatósági Jelentéstételi Irányelv (CSRD) azonban kiterjesztette a jelentéstételi kötelezettségeket, előírva a harmadik fél általi tanúsítását a jelentéseknek, ezzel erősítve az Európai Fenntarthatósági Jelentéstételi Szabványok (ESRS) szerepét. Ezen előrelépés arra készteti a CSRD hatálya alá tartozó vállalatokat, hogy növeljék az átláthatóságot, a hitelességet és a pontosságot a nem pénzügyi jelentéseik terén, amely egyidőben innovatív audit módszerek kidolgozására ösztönzi a könyvvizsgálókat is. Empirikus tanulmányom Közép- és Kelet-Európára összpontosít, németországi és luxemburgi összehasonlító esetekkel, húsz év gyakorlatát elemezve a Refinitiv ESG-adatok és Kaplan-Meier túlélési elemzés segítségével. A tanúsított jelentések készítéséig eltelt idővel és a külső tanúsítók közötti különbségekkel kapcsolatban fogalmaztam meg kutatási kérdéseket. A kutatás kiemeli Magyarországot, mint a CSRD korai alkalmazóját, amellyel a szabályalkotók igyekeztek elősegíteni a vállalatok megfelelését, míg Ausztria lemaradásban van e tekintetben. A bizonyosság-nyújtás érettségének Kaplan-Meier túlélési elemzése azt mutatja, hogy a nagyvállalatok jellemzően a jelentéstétel körülbelül három éve után vezetik be a külső bizonyossági megbízásokat, míg bizonyos ágazatokban már korábban is alkalmazzák a külső tanúsítások különböző szintjeit. A tanulmány rávilágít az első alkalommal kötelező bizonyosságot nyújtó ESRS-jelentéseket készítő vállalatok gyakorlati implikációira, és tárgyalja a minta összetételével és a regionális hatókörrel kapcsolatos korlátozásokat.
