Absztrakt

E dolgozat kiindulópontjául négy alapvető meggyőződés szolgál. Az első szerint az emberi faj oly mértékben és brutalitással pusztítja a saját és a többi faj élőhelyét jelentő természeti környezetet, hogy már a földi életet fenntartó globális mechanizmusokat veszélyezteti. Annak ellenére, hogy Polányi Károly ötven évvel ezelőtt fölhívta a figyelmet a szabad piaci társadalomból eredő ökológiai veszélyekre, száz évvel ezelőtt pedig John Ruskin figyelmeztetett ugyanerre az iparosítás vonatkozásában, s mi magunk is tapasztalhatjuk az ember és az ökoszisztémák egészségének romlását, továbbra sem mutatkoznak alapvető változások sem gondolkodásmódunkban, sem társadalmunk intézményi struktúráiban.
